Short Story: Dream Transcription

In the shadow of our gracious host here at Mispeled, luke t. bergeron, I’m making available an old short story of mine entitled “Dream Transcription” that I hope is more enjoyable to read than I assume it to be. One of my favorite authors wrote, “If you show someone something you’ve written, you give them a sharpened stake, lie down in your coffin and say, ‘When you’re ready.’”

So here’s a short description of the story (which incidentally is kind of important to the story… probably should have incorporated it into the body of the text, in fact); and then… Well… When you’re ready.

While the impossibility of describing anesthetic dreamscapes occupies the uneasy mind of an anonymous narrator, he is fortunate to have someone patiently waiting by his side for him to wade through the impenetrable metaphors that keep him from sustaining consciousness.

New Short Story: perpetual autumn

It’s been awhile since I released any new fiction and I mean to remedy that today with this short story.

perpetual autumn is about a married couple who learn a way to transition into Space-time 6, a reality that overlays our own (space-time four) with two more dimensions of time. After the transition they exist in all places and times at once. And yet…there is despair.

At its heart, perpetual autumn is a metaphysical romance. It was inspired by the video game, The Dig. If you’ve never played The Dig – go do it now. It’s in my top five games of all time and it’s available on Steam for just five bucks.

New Short Story: Madeline’s Children

Waiting – A Short Story

In general I don’t care for the short story form – I prefer longer works. Plus, I agree with Mark Twain’s sentiment about shorter things (sure, he was talking about a letter, but whatever) being more difficult to write than longer works.

However, now and again I get bit by the short story bug, and one comes out before I get a chance to do anything about it. Thus, “Waiting.”

Since I like experimenting with different mediums, I also recorded an audio version.
